Beyond Academics was founded by entrepreneurs with deep market experience in starting up, scaling and exiting ventures. We’ve even been instrumental in the design and operation of incubators and accelerators that have birthed brands like RoverTown, SpotHero and CaptainU. Based on the better of two decades in this space, we created an edtech accelerator within Beyond to brings promising brands to market in higher education.

 

How It Works

Once your company is accepted into the accelerator, a long-term partnership begins with a focus on positioning your brand for growth. It starts with an understanding of your entrepreneurial DNA, and the role(s) you and your current team thrive in. Our team them comes around you and your team to complement it. If you love product development, we’ll drive sales and marketing. If you love rainmaking, we’ll drive tech and finance. The partnership is all about each of us in our sweet spot, doing what we are excellent at doing, and gaining market share in the process.

During the first 6 months these are just a few of the areas we tackle together:

  • Brand positioning, messaging, and audience segmentation
  • Brand development/refinement (identity, messaging, website, marketing materials, UI, UX)
  • Business model optimization (including market-validated pricing)
  • Viability analysis (including voice-of-the-customer insight) • Product development / R&D roadmap
  • Talent acquisition and stewardship plan
  • Go To Market strategy and positioning (value proposition)
  • Revenue generation systems
  • Financial proforma and capital plan
  • Customer pitch deck preparation
  • Investor pitch deck preparation (if needed)

    Is there a cost to be part of the Intellicampus Accelerator?

    There is no fixed fee to participate. You only contribute funds for any services you request (e.g. UI/UX redesign, marketing material design etc).

    Does Beyond Academics/Intellicampus invest in my company?

    We make strategic investments on a case-by-case basis in some companies, but it is not a requirement or expectation for either party.

    Do you help us with sales? That’s where we are weakest.

    If you are willing to go through the recommended product, brand, messaging, and marketing upgrades we feel are necessary to position you well in market, we do have a team that will actively assist in (or lead) the sales effort. However, it is more common for us to assist you in recruiting a dedicated sales team that we then train, lead, coach, and manage.

    Do you have a development team?

    Yes, we have a full stack development shop that can be leveraged as needed. However, it is not a requirement or expectation to use our development team at any time. They are simply there if needed.

    What is your selection process?

    Once we receive your application, we schedule an exploratory call with you. If there is mutual interest thereafter, we conduct due diligence on your product and team while you get to know us better. We then structure the business relationship—which is always co-created on a case-by-case basis, and then move toward onboarding you into the platform.

    Do I need to relocate myself or my company to participate?

    No. That is not a requirement in any way. However, if your company does need a domicile, we can provide it.
